Fraud against the government costs U.S. taxpayers money every day.
The False Claims Act (FCA) encourages private citizens to file cases in the name of the U.S. to to recover damages when false and fraudulent claims are submitted to the government.
Sometimes called whistleblower or qui tam suits, these cases permit private citizens to share in the recovery of damages provided certain criteria are met. (The phrase qui tam is Latin and originally meant one who was pursuing the action behalf of both himself and the ruler.)
In most instances, merely reporting the matter is not enough. For you to be protected, the matter must be reported to the proper authorities. Additional criteria apply before you can recover damages.
If you know of fraud, waste and/or abuse against the government, Ms. Azeredo will explain FCA criteria to help you determine where you should report the matter and whether you can also recover damages. She will also use her extensive knowledge of the FCA to ensure that you remain as protected as possible throughout the entire complex process.
